What is Siege Perilous?
I. In Athurian Legend...
…the Siege Perilous was a round table seat, reserved at the King’s right hand. Merlin would go on to say that it was held for the knight that would one day return from their quest with the Holy Grail.For any other Knight, the Siege Perilous was strictly prohibited and fatal to anyone unworthy who should sit in it. The motif of a Perilous throne can be traced even further back, into Welsh and Cornish (the source of the bulk of the Arthurian Legend tales) and to Celtic and Irish kingship rituals.
II. About this Zine
This zine focuses on the characters and themes from the Square Enix video game series, Kingdom Hearts--but reimagined in the realm of Arthurian legend. Think along the lines of knights in shining armour, King Arthur and the round table, valiant heroes on quests, medieval era art/fairy tale imagery, chivalric romance, and so on.This will be a collaborative project, aiming for a collective of about 20-25 creatives (or more depending on interest) and will be a hybrid profit/donation zine with the intent of compensation for submitted work.
III. Zine Rules & Content Warnings
▪️No Heavy Gore - Mild violence and blood is of course allotted in the zine, but no visceral gore will be permitted in the art of writing. (Knights fight with swords and use ancient dark magics in Arthurian Legends...so some violence will happen.)
▪️Artistic Nudity is permitted, but no sexual NSFW
▪️No AI Generated Content - This applies to any AI-generated images or stories. This means no media generated by MidJourney, DALL-E/Craiyon, OpenAI, Replika, Fotor, DeepAI, NovelAI, or anything similar. This is not up for debate.
Anyone found to have been using AI will be immediately barred from the zine.
